On July 21, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese (NVNONN) Ho Chi Minh City held the 3rd Congress of Delegates for the term 2023-2028.
The report summarizing the work for the term 2015 – 2020, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Vice President and General Secretary of the Association for Liaison with NVNONN City said that over the past time, the Association has promoted connecting overseas Vietnamese with the homeland, creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to integrate, find investment and business opportunities, and participate in social contributions.

According to Phuong, the Association has organized many activities to promote the potential of overseas intellectuals, support graduates and young intellectuals to establish careers in their homeland, and promote economic and cultural exchanges with Laos and Thailand.
The Association also established the Overseas Vietnamese Support Center to remove obstacles and difficulties for overseas Vietnamese when returning home to live and work.
In the direction of tasks for the next term, Ms. Phuong suggested that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issue a regulation on coordination between the Association and its member organizations in the Fatherland Front system and the Liaison Committees for overseas Vietnamese in the districts.
In addition, the Association also proposed the City to issue a regulation on coordination of actions between the Association and other departments and agencies, and proposed the Department of Home Affairs to consider amending the Association’s Charter to create favorable conditions for operation and innovate content. , methods and strengthen organizational apparatus.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Tran Duc Hien, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Committee on Foreign Affairs, expected that the Executive Board of the third term would have the heart, virtue, talent, and lead the Association’s work more and more effectively and practically.
In addition, Mr. Hien also suggested that the Executive Committee for the new term of the Association for Liaison with NVNONN City will absorb the recommendations of the expatriates and report to the city for a solution.
On this occasion, the Association also elected 30 members of the Executive Committee for the third term.

Specifically, Mr. Le Van Thu, Standing Member, Head of Propaganda and External Affairs Committee of the City Fatherland Front Committee, holds the position of Chairman of the Association for Liaison with City NVNONN term III. Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung and Mr. Danny Vo Thanh Dang hold the position of Vice Chairman.
Le Van Thu said that he will make efforts and determination together with the Association to implement the tasks set out by the Congress, contributing to the completion of socio-economic tasks with the city.
