Report on the project of developing Can Tho city and enhancing urban adaptability (project 3), Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the City People’s Committee said, the project has been completed 61.3% so far. mass.

According to Mr. Truong, the project progress has made a lot of progress over the past time. However, he said that he was “very sorry” because the locality committed to speeding up the progress, but the city still had a few delayed items due to land problems, compensation and resettlement.
“The People’s Committee of Can Tho City is focusing on mobilizing all resources to overcome difficulties and speed up the handover of the site. Previously, the city committed to hand over all the premises until June 30, but so far it has not been completed. Now, the city is committed to striving until August 15, 2023, to complete the handover of the premises for all remaining projects,” said Mr. Truong.
Along with that, the city requested the ODA Board to mobilize all machinery and work overtime to shorten the construction time. Accordingly, any contractor who is behind schedule will be severely handled (contract fines, cut volume transfer, contract termination for re-bidding). Every week, the city will check the progress on the construction site to remove difficulties, striving for completed packages of 97% or more. Some remaining bidding packages strive to award bids no later than September 30, 2023.
In addition, the President of Can Tho also said that in the coming time, the city wants the WB to continue to provide technical and financial support to build the city. In particular, in the immediate future, the biggest need is to build new rural residential areas with the goal of urban decoration combined with resettlement to create conditions for people to have a better life. The city needs to invest in 16 residential areas with a scale of about 1,150 hectares, the estimated capital is about 12 trillion.
