
(PLO)- With a weight of 1.3 kg/head, the Canadian golden heliotrope snail sells for nearly 2.5 million VND/kg, more than twice as high as other types of heliotrope.
Last weekend, a famous seafood chain in Ho Chi Minh City officially successfully imported Canadian golden heliotrope snails to Vietnam with an output of more than one ton.
With a large size, each from 1.3 kg – 2 kg, the amount of meat is more than other types of heliotrope snails plus this is a wild-caught item, which has helped this snail have a retail price of up to nearly 2.5 million VND/kg. Thus, on average, each animal will cost from 3 million to 5 million VND/head.

With the seafood market, in recent years, heliotrope snails have become a popular commodity. But the market is mainly black and white heliotrope snails, each weighing 0.8 kg – more than 1 kg, selling price from 800,000 VND – 900,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Tran Van Truong, General Director of Royal Seafood International Trade Co., Ltd., the official importer of Canadian golden heliotrope snails, said that this item is currently sold out to both wholesalers and retailers. .
“This is a natural product, so the import volume is quite small, and must be ordered a whole month in advance. Currently, we are ordering another ton but have not yet stocked,” Truong said and expected the presence of this item to enrich customers’ choices during this year’s Tet holiday.

This is possible thanks to the CPTPP agreements to support taxes, customs procedures … which have helped the price of seafood to Vietnam almost equivalent to the Canadian domestic market.
According to this person, the items with impressive growth such as lobster, salmon, crab, recently added golden heliotrope… these seafood all come from the clean blue waters of Canada.
