(PLO)- The mock trial “Against violence against women” was held at Hung Vuong Hospital with a large number of doctors and nurses attending.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Rights Protection Association cooperated with Hung Vuong Hospital to hold a mock trial “Against violence against women” and propagate and disseminate Law No. 13/2022/QH15 on violence prevention and control. Family force takes effect from July 1, 2023.

According to the indictment of the hypothetical court, Nguyen Van An and Le Thi Hien got married in 2006. During the process of living together, An abused and beat Hien.
On the evening of December 2, 2022, An went out to drink. Hien opened the door and said: “Why don’t you tell when you go out to drink, so you have to wait for dinner at home?” Then An said: “You know it’s late if you see it.” Hien immediately said: “Wait until it’s late, the rice will be cold and the soup will be cold”. Hearing that, An used his hand to push Hien’s body to enter the house, causing Hien to fall to the ground, the left hand of the sage strongly supported the ground with a broken forearm bone.
At 3 a.m. the next morning, Hien felt that he could not hold an object in his hand, so he asked his son to take him to the hospital for emergency treatment and reported the matter to the Women’s Union of District 8. According to the assessment results of the Forensic Center – Department of Health In Ho Chi Minh City, Hien suffered a broken left forearm bone, with a body injury rate of 35%.

At the mock trial, defendant An said that because he was the one who earned money to support his family, he only stayed at home to take care of children and stay at home, so when he came home from work, he was tired, his wife served dinner late, the house was not clean, and the clothes were not ironed right away. short … will curse, beat his wife.
According to the people’s juror, Hien is a victim of domestic violence and has the right to request competent agencies, organizations and people to protect health, life and dignity; apply preventive and protective measures. It is because of her suffering that is part of the reason why the defendant continues to violate the law, leading to the case today.
This person also added that defendant An has repeatedly domesticated violence with his wife. Not when beating his wife causes injury but also swearing, insulting, causing psychological pressure, insulting the honor and dignity of the wife… There are two types of domestic violence, mental and physical. Not only his wife, but also the defendant’s children were greatly affected.
After deliberation, the trial panel sentenced defendant An to two years in prison for intentionally causing injury.
From July 1, 2023, the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control 2022 (approved by the National Assembly on November 14, 2022) takes effect. This Law consists of 06 chapters and 56 articles with many new points.
The new law has expanded where reports of domestic violence are received. In addition to the commune-level People’s Committee, the police agency; the village head, the head of the neighborhood group, the head of the front work committee in the residential area where the domestic violence act occurs… Added an educational institution where the person experiencing domestic violence is a learner; The head of the commune-level socio-political organization where the domestic violence act occurs; National telephone exchange for domestic violence prevention and control.
Article 55 of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control 2022 has amended and supplemented Article 135 of the Civil Code. Accordingly, from July 1, 2023, the court has the right to decide on its own to apply a measure to prohibit contact with victims of domestic violence.
