(PLO)- Up to now, the site clearance for Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang project in Hau Giang province is in the procedural stage, meaning that no household has handed over the site.
On May 29, Hau Giang Provincial People’s Committee held a conference to review the progress of compensation, support and resettlement for two expressway projects through the province.
That is component project 3 (belonging to Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project) and North – South expressway project, period 2021-2025, Can Tho – Ca Mau section (Can Tho expressway). – Ca Mau).

According to the report, the component project 3 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project through Hau Giang province is about 37 km, with a total investment of more than 9,600 billion VND. The total area of land to be acquired for the project is more than 260ha and about 1,120 households are affected.
Up to now, the provincial authorities have approved the compensation plan, paid and supported the relocation of 234 affected graves, with a total amount of more than 12.5 billion VND. At the same time, the compensation plan is being completed and sent to the local Departments of Natural Resources and Environment to request appraisal and approval for 859 households, with an amount of more than 558 billion VND. In which, it is proposed to approve the allocation of 243 resettlement sites for 190 households.
The Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway section through Hau Giang province has a length of more than 63km, with more than 2,000 households affected.
As for the Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway project, according to statistics up to now, there are 87 households that have not yet handed over the site, of which, there are 8 households that have pledged to hand over the site in May 2023. The remaining 33 households are waiting to receive the resettlement foundation; 22 households asked to raise prices; 5 households are in dispute, mortgage, pledge; 5 households are preparing procedures to approve additional funding; 4 households are being checked, verified, accepted for settlement.
After listening to relevant agencies’ reports, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People’s Committee, said that in about three weeks, the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project will be started. However, the site clearance for the project is currently in the procedural stage, which means that no household has yet handed over the site. While the Government’s Resolution 91 requires striving to hand over 70% of the ground area of construction and installation bidding packages to start before June 30.

From that fact, the head of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang province requested relevant departments, branches and localities to focus on implementing the project in a scientific manner, ensuring the project’s commencement on June 17. Besides, closely following the regulations and instructions of the Government and ministries to complete the dossiers and procedures for appointment of contractors for construction and installation bidding packages.
Particularly for the Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway project, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang province requested to urgently complete the planned relocation areas. At the same time, relocate technical infrastructure works and continue to mobilize households to hand over the premises. On the other hand, to completely settle people’s complaints about compensation, support and resettlement policies.
It is expected that by the end of June 2023, Hau Giang will complete four resettlement areas and hand over the ground to the affected people.
