Dental disease, sick relatives gather in large numbers and pickpockets take advantage of this to practice, pushing families into more difficult situations.

A series of arrests pickpocket in hospital

Near 6 o’clock on September 21, Le Thanh Chau (60 years old, native of Can Tho) from Thu Duc City came to Cho Ray Hospital to practice. When he arrived in front of the blood collection area at the Endocrine Department (1st floor) of the hospital, Chau discovered that a patient had his phone in his wide pants pocket, so he immediately approached. Taking advantage of crowded places, Chau pretended to create a push to grab the victim’s phone.

Having obtained the property, the thief quickly escaped by the stairs, but was controlled by the Police Criminal Police Team of District 5 in coordination with the BV security.

Chau has a total of eight convictions for the same theft of property and this person also committed a similar theft two days earlier at this hospital.

Next, on September 27, the criminal and security guard of the hospital also arrested Nguyen Van Tuan (64 years old, from Can Tho, living in District 6) for the act of pickpocketing at this hospital.

In early July, a group of four people in a pickpocket band at the Orthopedic Hospital, Cho Ray was also cleared by the District 5 Police.

A detective in District 5 said that in June, the police carried out many special projects and arrested thieves in the hospital, but some individual activists have not been caught, the situation of pickpocketing in hospitals still occurs. .

Not only pickpockets but also in large hospitals, there are “storks” taking medical examination numbers, “triggers” of ambulances, “triggers” of funeral services; collecting money for illegal parking… activities around cause insecurity and disorder.

According to District 5 Police, the situation of groups of subjects taking advantage of the loopholes of patients and sick people to engage in pickpocketing and property theft at hospitals is a painful problem. These people divide into groups, assign work and cover up, escape when someone finds out. Meanwhile, many victims did not report to the police or protect the hospital.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Phe, Deputy Chief of District 5 Police, there are 20 operating hospitals in the area, including 17 public hospitals and three private hospitals; Most of them are last-line hospitals, receiving tens of thousands of patients and taking care of their relatives every day.

Not to mention, some medical staff and employees at the BV for various reasons involved in borrowing black credit, leading subjects to come to work at the BV, make phone calls to the board of directors, leaders of the hospitals, etc. The department threatens to affect the hospital’s reputation and image.

And yet, the situation of “triggers” of BV, traffickers encroaching on the roadside, illegal parking, fraud … in the area of ​​BV also complicated developments, causing insecurity and disorder.

“This is a situation that is very concerned by the hospital’s leaders and has actively discussed with the district police to jointly propose many prevention and control solutions,” said Mr. Phe.

To eliminate the above incidents, in mid-October, the police and hospitals in District 5 signed a regulation on cooperation in ensuring security, order and social safety with the hospitals.

According to the regulations, the police and hospitals cooperate to protect security, prevent crime and social evils, and promptly handle cases related to security and order in the area inside and outside the hospital campus. Actively prevent and fight against activities that infringe on political security, criminal, drug, and social evils occurring inside and outside the hospital’s campus, directly affecting the safety of the hospital. …

Specifically, the police actively organize to grasp the situation of security and order inside and outside the hospital; coordinate with the BV in developing and implementing plans and plans to prevent theft, pickpocketing, fraudulent appropriation of the patient’s and relatives’ property… in the hospital’s premises; coordinate with the BV’s security forces to organize patrols at peak hours to prevent crime, and check suspicious suspects hiding inside the hospital to commit crimes.
