Change name, get married and have children after escaping from camp
In 1988, Tran Van Xo (at that time 34 years old, from My Loi commune, Thanh Tri district, Soc Trang) was arrested for property theft, robbery.
After being sentenced to 10 years in prison by the court, Xo was taken to Xuan Loc prison to serve his sentence.

In October 1994, Xo escaped from Xuan Loc prison and wandered around the western provinces. This time, scouts “spread their nets” in the locality, but absolutely no trace of the Soviet Union was found. And during the past time, the scouts of Xuan Loc prison always tracked the Soviet Union but failed.
In 2022, Xuan Loc prison continued to send notices to provinces and cities asking for the arrest of the accused Soviet.
According to Captain Tran Linh Vu, Hunting and Tracing Team (PC02 Department of Binh Duong Provincial Police), when receiving a request to cooperate in arresting escaped prisoners of Xuan Loc prison, this unit searched his relatives. and Tran Van Xo’s family in Binh Duong province, however, no information was found on the subject of Xo.
The wanted team returned to Soc Trang province, coordinated with the Criminal Police Department of the Soc Trang Province Police to search for clues about Xo’s identity because he suspected that Xo might be hiding in Binh Duong.
Here, the arresting team discovered that the accused Xo had a younger brother named Bi who was living and working in Khanh Binh ward, Tan Uyen town, with his wife and two children.

Through reviewing the records, the arresting team discovered that the accused Xo was also the sixth child in the family, so at home, he was often called Seven, after the Southerners.
The scouts found that there were many similarities and suspicions between Tran Van Xo and the person named Bay Rau, so they secretly compared the identity and determined that the person named Tran Van Bay (Seven Beard) was Tran Van Xo – the person whom Over the past 28 years, many generations of scouts from Xuan Loc prison have been searching. The arresting team had a meeting and decided to make a plan to “keep the net”.
At the beginning of June 2022, when Bay Rau was going to receive gifts at a motorcycle shop in the Kim Hang roundabout area (Tan Uyen town), the soldiers of the Criminal Police Department (Binh Duong Provincial Police) and officers Department of Xuan Loc prison approached and controlled.
