4 years as a female traffic police officer in Ho Chi Minh City, lieutenant Ton Thi Dieu Linh (27 years old, from Ha Tinh province) had to spend Tet away from her family. Recalling the emotions of New Year’s Eve, the female traffic policeman burst into tears again because of emotion. Peace on the streets is a task as well as a joy, but somewhere, this 9X girl still craves some peace in her family.
Reporter knows Ton Thi Dieu Linh during the rehearsal of the female traffic police team leading the delegation of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department (PC08, HCMC Police). Linh stands out because of her tall height and gentle smile through the mask.
Our conversation on the occasion of the Lunar New Year was interrupted many times because Linh burst into tears when she mentioned the memories of New Year’s Eve while standing in traffic control on the road. 4 years of duty in Ho Chi Minh City is 4 years of female traffic police to welcome New Year’s Eve away from home, looking at the flow of people going out, the 27-year-old girl is a bit embarrassed, heartbroken, sometimes her eyes suddenly turn red because she misses her parents, miss the atmosphere in the countryside.
Then passersby congratulated the new year, Linh seemed to be revived mentally, successfully completed the assigned task.

Hello Linh, as one of the 50 women participating in the female squad of traffic police leading the PC08 team, how did Linh spend her training days?
I have spent 1 month training in leading the group, with exercises such as running in the shape of a figure, running in a zigzag, hugging a corner, emergency braking, running in a formation…
In the first days of practice, I found myself very excited, when I saw the motorcycle, I wanted to get on the bike immediately to practice driving and do some exercises. Special motorcycles are larger in size and heavier than ordinary motorcycles. Each car has its own characteristics, so when practicing, you need to be careful, pay attention to the differences of each car to be able to master it, to limit accidents during practice. When I first started practicing, I found the motorcycle to be quite heavy, a bit difficult to control, but there were many male officers to support me, only many exercises for me to practice more easily and methodically.

In the exercises I like the most, the zigzag exercise requires soft steering skills, the level of throttle release must be even. That 1 month of practice because the car was heavy, sunny, and bright, so some people fell from the car, I also fell 1-2 times.
When mastering the steering wheel on a special motorcycle, how does Linh feel?
That is the feeling of being conquered. Because at first I thought it was very difficult to master a large displacement bike, but when I was determined to practice, I realized it was not as difficult as I thought. Just set a goal and try your best for that goal, the results will be well worth it.

While doing professional work at the team of registration and management of road motor vehicles, he led the delegation. Did Linh face any obstacles during her work? What is Linh’s most memorable memory when leading the group?
At the unit, I do cadre work, logistics work. Every day, I will receive and distribute stationery for officers and soldiers, manage assets, provided equipment, electricity, water, and petrol. In addition, I am in charge of promotion, salary increase, monitoring, management, license plate estimation, vehicle registration forms, forms in inspection and driving license renewal; destroy license plate…
I often arrange to lead the delegation when assigned from my superior, so I don’t face any problems during my work. Up to now, I can’t even remember how many teams I lead because there are so many. But every time I accept a task, I am as excited as the first time I led the delegation of former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong.

During the process of leading the delegation that day, there were a number of stubborn vehicles that obstructed when the delegation passed, and my teammates and I quickly handled the situation, asked people to stop and smoothly brought the delegation to a safe place. whole.
When we arrived, we were shaken by Ms. Tong Thi Phong, chatted and appreciated. Before, I only knew her through the news, on television, so my emotions were both trembling and excited when I met her in person for the first time in real life. She is very simple and approachable.

What will the Tet holiday of a female traffic police officer look like?
I have been in the industry for 4 years now, every New Year comes, I am on duty at the office, every time I am on duty, I usually live, eat and drink with the officers and soldiers on duty at the unit. In those days, when I had to go out to work, I looked at the empty streets, and when people went home to celebrate Tet, I was very homesick. Every time I miss home like that, I often call my parents to check in, and after completing my New Year’s duty, I will take leave to visit my family.
At New Year’s Eve, I’m often assigned to regulate traffic at intersections. Seeing people go out to the crowded street to watch fireworks, the emotions of New Year’s Eve, the days of gathering with family, come rushing back…(cry). There were people who went to celebrate New Year’s Eve passing by my place to regulate the traffic and said “Happy New Year”, I felt warm and happy again because my duty has contributed to ensuring traffic safety and order. people play Tet.
As a traffic police officer, that is, always “on duty” 100% during holidays and Tet. This means that, having followed the industry, I always celebrate Tet away from home. After the New Year’s Eve shift, I called to ask my parents, they also encouraged me to try to complete the task well. (emotion)

So how is Tet in Linh’s memory in her hometown?
Before I did not enter the industry, I often had Tet with my family, prepared for Tet, went shopping, and gathered around the tray of rice with my family. After that, we went to congratulate the family, teachers. Tet in my hometown will be a bit cold, but I always feel warm and happy in my heart because I’m with my loved ones.
For the past 4 years, on New Year’s Day in my unit, I was always at the office. Make reports related to professional work. Besides, I also participated in cleaning and decorating the headquarters of the unit to have a Tet atmosphere. On days like this, I feel even more homesick. Sometimes when I think about it, I still feel sorry for myself, remembering old memories.

So why did Linh choose to follow the traffic police?
My parents are farmers, the family has no one in the industry. But since I was a child, watching TV, seeing the policemen in police uniforms on duty very beautiful and majestic, I admired and admired. Since then, I have nurtured the dream of wearing a uniform like that.
I worked hard to study hard to pass the entrance exam to the People’s Police University. The day I entered the gate of the People’s Police University, I was very happy and proud to be in the ranks of the People’s Public Security, then I just thought that I would try to study and practice well, not thought that she would be arranged to major in traffic police and become a female traffic policeman like now. My family is very excited and supportive of me going into the industry.

I passed the university entrance exam in 2014, graduated in 2018 and was assigned to work at the Staff Team, PC08, Ho Chi Minh City Public Security. Currently, I work at the Team of Registration and Management of Road Motor Vehicles
Despite being assigned office work, but having the opportunity to lead the delegation and interact with people participating in traffic, how is the traffic sense of pedestrians today?
I see that most people strictly obey the requirements of the functional forces, actively give way when they see a traffic police lead the group, but there are still some cases where they do not pay attention to give way to priority vehicles.
There are times when I stand at an intersection to regulate traffic, I see that some people will look when they see a female traffic police officer on duty. As for the children, they often look at the female traffic police with big round eyes, amused, and even greet me with a smile.
As a female traffic police officer, with a typical working environment where the majority of men are men, is there anything special about Linh’s March 8, 20, 10?
On these holidays, I often join my sisters and colleagues to participate in food fairs or flower arranging contests organized by the department. I find the activities very fun and meaningful. Every year there are only many impressions and memories.
Women are afraid of exposure to the sun, so when leading a group or air-conditioner, how does Linh take care of her skin?
Because of the specifics of my work and duties, I also don’t have much time to be too picky about skin care. Whenever I am assigned to lead a group or air conditioner, I usually apply sunscreen, then just put on some lipstick and go out.
After 4 years as a female traffic police officer, I am proud of the yellow shirt. I hope to continue to devote my youth to serving the people, contributing to spreading the beautiful image of the traffic police.
