In 2021, I met Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of H. Meo Vac (Ha Giang), when working on the project “Ten thousand trees for Meo Vac”.
Now there is something I want to do for the people of Meo Vac, I called Mr. Cuong to help and connect, and I learned that Mr. Cuong had changed his job to become the Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Ha Giang province.
“But I have a lot of predestined relationships with Meo Vac, like my second hometown,” Cuong added.
I said that I was going to ask Mr. Cuong to introduce me to some difficult schools in Meo Vac, a poor ethnic minority area. I would equip the school library with textbooks because of the recent increase in the price of textbooks. Too high will affect the ability of people to pay.
My wish is that when the school library is equipped with enough textbooks per student, parents do not have to buy textbooks for their children. Students can borrow books from the school at the beginning of the year, and return them at the end of the year to borrow books next year.
“Teacher, Decree 81/2021 of the Government takes care of all this. The school library above has money from the Government to buy textbooks, people don’t have to buy them, students can borrow books from the school,” Mr. Cuong told me.
“Very good! “Mr. Interior” who takes care of the people said that, I believe, my stomach is very happy”, I happily told Mr. Cuong.
But Mr. Cuong also introduced and gave me the phone number of Mr. Thu, the current Head of Education-Training Department of H.Meo Vac, so that I could contact any schools “outside of Decree 81” that are still in dire need of help. .
Soon after, I contacted Mr. Thu and learned that the whole district only had 2 schools “outside of Decree 81”: Pa Vi Primary School for Ethnic Minorities and Pa Vi Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities.
“Most of the children of the H’mong ethnic group are very poor… it’s very valuable if you can help me. In addition to textbooks, if you can help me with more story books, the better, improving the reading culture for students,” said Thu earnestly.
Mr. Thu told me the names and phone numbers of the principals of those two schools so that I could directly discuss specifically about supporting the school library.
On Sunday, June 26, I had a specific discussion with Ms. Ha (Principal of Pa Vi Elementary School for Ethnic Minorities) and Ms. Thanh (Principal of Pa Vi Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities). They sent the list of textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7; the list of teachers’ books for grades 1, 2, 3, 6 and the quantity to be equipped for the school library.
On Monday (July 27), Marie Curie School (Hanoi) worked with Ha Giang Province’s Book and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company. All needs will be met in the first week of July.
Specifically, the libraries of Pa Vi Elementary School for Ethnic Minorities and Pa Vi Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities will be fully equipped with new textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and textbooks. new member of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th grade.
Textbooks for grades 4, 5 and 8, 9 will continue to be equipped in the following school years, when new books are changed. Students in grades 4, 5 and 8, 9 of the 2 schools (school year 2022 – 2023) are given school supplies (backpacks, notebooks, pens…).
It is estimated that the total cost to donate textbooks and school supplies to students this time is about 300 million VND. The number is modest, but I know it means a lot to the ethnic people who are still struggling here.
I also expect that next September, when students return to school for the new school year, I will launch a campaign for each student to donate at least 1 book or story to their friends in Pa Vi. My school is crowded with students, maybe the little ones on it read… 10 years won’t end.
Three days to complete the plan. After 2 weeks, the plan to equip textbooks for 2 schools in remote mountainous areas will be completed, where the Mong, Tay, Nung… are poor. My heart burns with joy!
Looking forward to the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Training on using the budget to buy textbooks for students to borrow Youth reported, soon approved and implemented by the Government.
However, buying textbooks for students is still indispensable without the contribution of individuals and units so that this right policy can be implemented faster and more widely, reaching each address in question. needed, very needed.
