
(PLO)- President Vo Van Thuong and his wife left Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi capital, officially set off to visit Austria, Italy and the Vatican.
On the morning of July 23, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife Phan Thi Thanh Tam left Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi capital, to visit Austria, Italy and the Vatican. The visit will last until July 28.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife paid an official visit to the Republic of Austria at the invitation of Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen.

The President also paid a State visit to the Italian Republic at the invitation of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella.
Next, the President and his wife will visit the Vatican at the invitation of Pope Francis.
This is the first visit to Austria by the Vietnamese President in the past 15 years and the first exchange of Heads of State delegations between Vietnam, Italy and the Vatican in the past five years.
The visit of President Vo Van Thuong to Austria, Italy and the Vatican aims to continue implementing the foreign policy of the 13th Party Congress on independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; promote and deepen bilateral cooperation with Austria, Italy and the Vatican; through Austria and Italy to promote Vietnam-EU relations and contribute to promoting ASEAN-EU relations.
Accompanying the President and his wife Phan Thi Thanh Tam during the visit were Chairman of the President’s Office Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Secretary of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee Hoang Thi Thuy Lan.

. Meanwhile, in March, Vietnam and Italy also had many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (March 23, 1973 – March 23, 2023). Notably, this year 2023 is also the 10th anniversary of the signing of the “Joint Statement on Establishing a Strategic Partnership” in January 2013, on the occasion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s state visit to Italy.
. As for the Vatican, most recently, at the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Holy See Joint Working Group (Vatican) taking place at the Vatican at the end of March, the two sides assessed that the Vietnam – Holy See relationship has made a lot of progress over the past time.
